Mar. 5: Lisa Schroeder’s new book

It's Raining Cupcakes, by Lisa Schroeder I’ve talked before about my author friend Lisa Schroeder, whose young adult novels have been published in the past few years. She’s got a new book coming out—her first mid-grade novel—on March 9. It’s called It’s Raining Cupcakes, and here’s the synopsis from Lisa’s web site:

Twelve-year-old Isabel dreams of seeing the world but she’s never left Oregon. When her best friend, Sophie, tells her of a baking contest whose winners travel to New York City, she eagerly enters despite concerns about her mother, who is opening a cupcake bakery. Includes cupcake recipes!

Katie’s been looking forward to this book’s release for months now because she’s grown jealous of me attending Lisa’s readings without her. Soon she’ll be old enough to “get” the young adult novels, but until then, she’ll have this one. We can hardly wait to read it! And is that book cover NOT the cutest thing you’ve ever seen???

Here’s the really cool thing: Lisa’s doing a reading/Q&A/signing at Powell’s Books at Cedar Hill Crossing on Sunday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. Katie and I are definitely going—this will be her first time meeting a real, live author who can autograph her book, and she’s very excited. I’m hoping if you have a tween that you’ll go too! Lisa’s super-nice and an amazing writer, and I promise you’ll have a good time—come support a local author!

Are you craving cupcakes now? It’s not just me, is it? We totally need to treat ourselves to cupcakes afterward, right? See you at Powell’s!

P.S. This is not Chef Lisa Schroeder of Portland. It’s Author and Good Person Lisa Schroeder of Portland. Chef Lisa Schroeder owns Mother’s Bistro and Mamma Mia Trattoria and sounds wonderful in all the interviews she gives. Trust me, she’s anything BUT wonderful, and I know this firsthand; she single-handedly sabotaged our 20th high school reunion at Mamma Mia with her psychotic last-minute mind-changes. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if she spit in all our food too. Evil. Pure evil.

  1. Looks like a really fun book! An author writing about cupcakes? I'm there. Well, in spirit anyway. Enjoy!
